The redesign of the I-25/NM 14 (Cerrillos Road) Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) was an exercise in creativity, and an opportunity for the engineering team to think outside the box of typical roadway design. The first of its kind in New Mexico – DDI will make traveling safer and more efficient for decades to come. Molzen Corbin was asked to fast track the final design and delivered the plans ahead of the contract schedule. This complex, high-profile project presents an innovative and improved vehicular interchange with pedestrian/bicycling amenities, and is one of the first DDI projects in the nation to prioritize alternate modes of transportation and safely separate them from the moving traffic at the “criss-crosses” and ramps connecting to the Interstate.
