Harrelson Street runs through a mix of manufacturing, residential, and historic areas in the City of Las Cruces. This complete urban road replacement project consisted of roadway design, utility replacement, storm drain throughout the length of the project, and surveying. The project terminated at Union Avenue (NM373), which is a New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) roadway, so Molzen Corbin worked with NMDOT to redesign this intersection. Our challenge with the utility design was to replace the water, sewer, and gas connections to the side streets while keeping the existing utilities in service. The roadway design consisted of sidewalks, curb/gutter, asphalt roadway section, concrete driveway pads, and revisions to the area lighting system.
