Molzen Corbin completed the design of the I-25/ University Interchange Project in 2020. This NMDOT-led project was a collaborative effort between the NMDOT, City of Las Cruces, and NMSU to ease traffic congestion along I-25 and University Avenue and to improve multimodal access and safety through and around this high-volume intersection. This project included a direct connection from I-25 to the NMSU campus via a new bridge on University Avenue that allows the interstate off-ramp and Triviz Avenue to pass under University Avenue. Also included were two new roundabouts that are specially designed for all modes of transportation from large semi-trucks to pedestrians. The City of Las Cruces also made a substantial investment in the project with new “gateway” landscaping, as well as water and gas utility improvements.
Scope of Work
Roadway Design, Drainage Engineering, Landscaping, Construction Observation/Administration
